WEDDING BAND

Introduction
Each of the three modules deals with a different subject but all three use The Wedding Band by Alice Childress as a subject of their focus.
Submodule 1 deals with questions of diversity. The assignments are meant for you to contemplate the wide variety of possibilities for considering diversity there happen to be in the world. The characters in The Wedding Band raise their concerns regarding diversity as the play progresses.

Submodule 2 concerns techniques for analyzing a play. The videos pertaining to this subject are included in this submodule. And again The Wedding Band serves as an excellent illustration for play analysis.

Submodule 3 explores how staged plays take on yet a different life from the way we might imagine them in our head as we read them. The influences of performance venues, set, costumes, lighting, and sound design all have a decided influence on how we perceive the words as spoken by actors having worked with a director in rehearsals, as well as the contribution of set, costumes, lighting, and sound designers.
